What is a Disability Doula?

Someone just asked this question when I introduced myself in a thread and I thought I would quickly share my answer here-

I help people navigate managing aspects of being disabled. One of the most common ways I support people are helping prep for upcoming medical appts to be able to get the most out of the visit, this can help take an appt from 30% retention of information to almost 100% when including medical transcription apps like Abridge, plus help with follow up research and referrals both before and after. I also help diagnosis navigation, my specialty is for EDS/connective tissue disorders, but can help with other issues. I also support the full range of reproductive system needs for people with disabilities, from fertility, pregnancy miscarriage, abortion, labor, birth, postpartum, infant feeding, and home prep for caring for infant.
